Abeokuta, Ogun State – All is set for the grand commissioning of the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex, a historic landmark and one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural heritage sites, situated in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, July 31, 2025, will be led by the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as part of his administration’s unwavering commitment to revamping tourism infrastructure and boosting the state’s economic diversification agenda.
According to a statement signed by Hon. Babatunde Olaotan (HBO), Special Adviser, Government House and General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the ceremony will commence promptly at 11:00 a.m. at the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex.
The renovation project is part of the ongoing efforts of the Dapo Abiodun-led government to restore cultural landmarks, improve tourism appeal, and create jobs through increased visitor traffic. Stakeholders in the tourism sector, cultural custodians, traditional leaders, and top government officials are expected to grace the occasion.
Olumo Rock, long regarded as the spiritual and historical symbol of the Egba people, attracts thousands of local and international tourists annually. With this facelift, the site is expected to witness an even greater influx of visitors, further boosting Ogun State’s reputation as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.
