The ancient towns of Ojowo in Ijebu-Igbo and Oke Agbo Kingdom are set to witness a major traditional event as Elder Adegboyega Opemipo Onasanya has been nominated and scheduled for installation into a revered chieftaincy position.
Preparations are already in top gear for the ceremonial installation of Elder Gboyega Onasanya into a significant traditional title within the Ojowo Kingdom.
According to the letter issued by His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, PhD (Akereburu, Boteleeru Orilonise I), the Olokine of Ojowo and Ojowo Traditional Council, announced that Elder Adegboyega Onasanya will be installed as Otunba Fibigboye of Ojowo Kingdom.
The installation ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 6th February, 2026, at 10:00am prompt, with further details to be communicated subsequently.
Mainwhile, a formal nomination letter dated 1st December, 2025, issued from the palace of His Royal Highness, Alaiyeluwa Oba Stephen Adeleke Adekoya (Iluyomade I), the Bejeroku of Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo, confirmed Elder Onasanya’s nomination for the Royal Honourary Chieftaincy Title of Asiwaju Bobagunwa of Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo.
According to the letter obtained by GlobalWatch Multimedia and Media Communication, the nomination was made in recognition of Onasanya’s “immense contributions to the development of Oke-Agbo and its environs,” as well as his demonstrated good character, credibility and commitment to peace, development and progress in line with the customs and traditions of the community.
The dual recognition across Oke-Agbo and Ojowo Kingdoms reflects Elder Onasanya’s growing influence and acceptance within traditional institutions, illuminating a broader appreciation of his contributions to community development and grassroots advancement.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, dignitaries and well-wishers are expected to grace the colourful ceremonies, which is anticipated to further strengthen cultural heritage and unity within the Ijebu axis of Ogun State.
